The Master's program in Life Science focuses on four subject areas: industrial biotechnology, food and nutritional sciences, molecular and cell biology, and natural and active substance chemistry. The study concept forms the scientific foundations for independent academic work.
Life science is an applied, highly interdisciplinary science. The study concept builds on fundamental scientific and technical knowledge in the chemical disciplines, life sciences, and now also food and nutritional sciences, and applies this knowledge in concrete technological implementation with bioprocess and reaction engineering as well as industrial competencies (GMP/GLP, genetic engineering safety, etc.). The aim of the Life Science study course is to produce broadly educated, flexibly specialized graduates who are aware of the complex interactions at the intersection of biology and chemistry. Technical requirements include the integration and translation of chemical-biological, technical-application-oriented, and food and nutritional science aspects in research and development. In addition to providing specialized scientific training in life sciences, students are to be trained for professional qualifications through special content and didactic measures. The scientific skills of graduates include the ability to think in a structured and analytical manner in biological and chemical contexts, to prove themselves in scientific and social discourse, and to work independently on subject-specific tasks.
Please note: This programme requires German language proficiency.

Degree regulation documents
The regulations concerning the course of a degree programme and examinations are described and legally binding in the examination regulations (PO). The PO regulates the examination requirements and procedure. It specifies the modules as well as the number and type of examinations, the registration and examination periods and the rules for cancelling examinations.
The admission regulations define admission requirements in detail. Both are legally binding documents, only published in German.
