Green inner courtyard at Wassertorplatz in Berlin: an example of nature-based solutions to climate change adaptation and mitigation in urban areas

Two researchers from our Faculty once again honoured as leaders in citation rankings

Highly Cited Researchers 2023“ – two researchers from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Leibniz University Hannover have once again been recognised: The current list, which is based on data from the publication database "Web of Science", shows this recognition based on the frequency with which their scientific publications have been cited by other researchers over the past eleven years.

Social Sciences category: nature-based solutions to climate change adaptation and mitigation in urban areas

Prof. Dr. Nadja Kabisch, Professor of Digital Landscape Ecology at the Institute of Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology since 2022, received again the award in the Social Sciences category in 2023. Her research focuses on nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation in cities. Her interdisciplinary research on urban climate resilience, environmental justice and urban ecosystem services was also included in the current IPCC 6 Assessment Report of Working Group III Mitigation of Climate Change. She received 2021 an ERC Consolidator Grant.

Chemistry category: weit mehr als Katalyse und Nanotechnologie

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Caro from the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry can look back on a great and successful life's work. This year's award as the most cited scientist, as in previous years, emphasises his extraordinary research achievements, which have had a significant and broad influence in the field of chemistry.

Clarivate Analytics and the "Web of Science"

“Each year, Clarivate™ identifies the small fraction of the global research scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their field(s) of research. This select group contribute disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and gaining for society innovations that make the world healthier, more sustainable and more secure.” [Clarivate award letter]

The list published annually by Clarivate Analytics is based on data from the Web of Science (formerly ISI, Web of Knowledge), a multidisciplinary database that lists scientific publications and their citations. The content focus is on the natural sciences and technology, with the majority of journals from the Anglo-American region being analysed.
