Microbiology Research: New Cooperation Between the Three Universities in Hannover – LUH, MHH and TiHo

New symposium series strengthens collaborative research initiatives between Leibniz University, Medical School and University of Veterinary Medicine

A team led by Natalia Tschowri, Professor of Cellular Microbiology at the Institute of Microbiology (IFMB)initiated and organised the new collaboration with the first United Microbiology Hannover Symposium. The kick-off event, which took place on 16 February 2024 in the Church Chancellery of Leibniz University Hannover, brought together over 70 microbiologists from Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), Hannover Medical School (MHH) and the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover Foundation (TiHo) for the first time and provided a great platform for getting to know each other and exchanging scientific ideas.
The programme comprised three sessions: from the important role of microorganisms in the health of our environment (LUH contribution), to the importance of bacteria in animal disease and health (TiHo contribution) and the role of bacteria in human health (MHH speakers).

Professor Tschowri draws a very positive conclusion: "Overall, this was a very successful kick-off event, which led to the initiation of many new collaborations and ideas for the establishment of collaborative research and will now take place on a regular basis."
