Metabolic Origins of Folate-Responsive Neural Tube Defects and Peripheral Neuropathy

Speaker/s

Patrick J. Stover, Ph.D.

  • Director of the Institute for Advancing Health through Agriculture (IHU) at Texas A&M
  • Elected member of the National Academy of Sciences since 2015
  • In addition to many other awards, he received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honour bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers beginning their independent careers in 1996.

During his extensive career as a scientist, Stover has found immense success while researching the essential B-vitamins folate, vitamin B12 and riboflavin and their impact on human development. In his own research group, he and his team couple this knowledge to further analyse human pathogens, their prevention and management.

On the 12th of December, he will present the successful connection of nutritional / food science, chemistry and biology.

The lecture is directed at university lecturers, scientific assistants,  doctoral students/postdocs and master students of biology, life sciences and chemistry.
