Technology made in Lower Saxony in the Quantum Valley Lower Saxony (QVLS): The network brings research institutions and companies from Lower Saxony together. Joint resources will drive quantum technology forward. Stephan Weil visited the QVLS during a lab tour to learn about the current state of the art.

With ion trap technology to quantum computers

Quantum computers are considered a key technology of our time. The close cooperation between research and industry in Lower Saxony brings together basic research and technology transfer. A special quality of the QVLS is the combination of all competences under one roof: from quantum algorithms to the production of quantum chips based on trapped ions. The Minister President enjoyed the demonstration of the semiconductor manufacturing processes in the clean room of the Laboratory for Nano and Quantum Engineering (LNQE). Here, there is a complete semiconductor process line and a new unit that is set specifically for the production of quantum chips.
