Excellent lecturers: Sabine Struckmeier and Jens Groß receive teaching award

The award-winning lecturers do not have to fear unfilled places: Their courses earn top ratings.

Faculty of Natural Sciences: represented in two out of three categories

Dr Sabine Struckmeier and Dr Jens Groß have been awarded the Teaching Award 2021. The prices, each endowed with 2.000 euros, were handed out during the Teaching Day 2022. Since 2008, the LUH has awarded the award annually to special lecturers, and now, for the first time, different categories have been created.

Motivation and inspiration: Dr. Sabine Struckmeier

Students and teachers value her commitment so much that a particularly large number of nominations were received for Ms Struckmeier. The dean of studies of our emphasises: "For years now, Ms Struckmeier's courses have achieved top grades in the course evaluation. The students particularly appreciate the learning atmosphere". With topics such as digital media in teaching, sustainability and exploratory learning in the natural sciences, Ms Struckmeier inspires future teachers at the Institute of Science Education [German content].

Professionalisation and teaching culture: Dr. Jens Groß

This category awards people whose work makes a significant impact on improving teaching and collegial interaction. Jens Groß was already awarded the Faculty's Teaching Award in 2019 and acts as the literal good soul at the Institute of Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology. As programme coordinator, he knows the needs of the students well, but at the same time always has an open ear for his colleagues - as the reasons for nomination reveal.
