TransBIB workshop: Moving the future - automotive industry in the focus of the bioeconomy
The transport sector accounts for around a fifth of Germany's greenhouse gas emissions, with road transport making up the largest share. At the same time, the automotive industry is faced with increasingly stringent legal requirements and growing sustainability awareness among consumers. Sustainability is therefore becoming a key differentiating factor for OEMs, suppliers and service providers. In order to ensure the future viability of the automotive industry, products and processes must be rethought!
In addition to the switch to alternative drive technologies, resource efficiency, lightweight construction and the circular economy are becoming increasingly important in the industry. Bio-based raw materials can make an important contribution to a sustainable economy: thanks to innovative new approaches, fossil materials can be replaced, CO2 emissions reduced and the circular economy promoted. This makes it possible to focus on sustainability right from the production process.
As part of an online workshop on 18 September 2025, we would like to enter into dialogue with representatives from the automotive industry, present best practices and bring together individual challenges with the offers of our partner research institutions.
The workshop is part of the TransBIB joint project.
