One-Day Field Claas: Reading the Environment through Lichens
In this one-day feld class in the Hannover region, led by Dr. Filipe Bernardo, international guest researcher at the Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology section of the Institute of Earth System Sciences, participants will be introduced to the fascinating diversity of epiphytic lichens growing on trees. Through direct feld observation, they will discover the wide variety of lichen sizes, colours and growth forms, and learn how these organisms can be observed, recorded and, where appropriate, collected as practical bioindicators of environmental condition.
All interested students of the Bachelor's program in Geography and the Master's program in Landscape Sciences are welcome to participate. The field course locations in the Hanover area will be accessible by public transportation. If you are interested in participating, please register by email until July 10 filipe.mt.bernardo@uac.pt
